The calendar for CIMTB Levorin 2016 Series is set. The three MTB events will take place from March to November in the Minas Gerais cities of Araxá, São João del-Rei and Congonhas. For athletes looking for a spot in the 2016 Olympic Games, the Brazilian event can represent the last chance to climb some steps for UCI’s Olympic ranking.
The opening stage will take place in March 4th to 6th in Araxá (MG). The race is graded SHC and will give important points to the top 40 Super Elite’s competitors. The champion will get 160 points for the Olympic and world UCI rankings.
The second stage of the series could select the last athletes for the Olympic competition. The race is scheduled for São João del-Rei from May 13th to May 15th, just 10 days before the closing of the Olympic list (on May 24th). The competition will award 10 UCI points for the champion of the XCE race and 60 UCI points for the XCO race. The event is also part of the UCI Junior Series for the third consecutive year.
The season closes in Congonhas, the “Prophet’s City”, between November 4th and November 6th. Competition will feature a XCM race, part of UCI MTB Marathon Series (10 UCI points to the first place in XCO) and the Slope Challenge.
CIMTB celebrates its 20th edition in 2015. The event is sponsored by Levorin, official tire of the competition, and is co-sponsored by LM Bike, Shimano, Specialized and Audax.
